Star Sponge Pattern
Materials: 5.00 mm hook, scissors, scrubby textured yarn weight 4 (Recommended but not required: Loops and Threads Polyester Squeaky Clean), and a dream
Key:
ch- chain, slst- slip stich, dc- double crochet
RND 1: ch 4 and slst into first chain in row to make a circle. ch 2 and insert 15 dc into circle. slst into first dc in row. Note: do not count ch 2 as st.
RND 2: In first dc, insert 3 dc ch 2 and 3 dc. skip two st, repeat 4 more times. slst into first dc of rnd.
RND 3: Skip first st of rnd by slst into next stitch, and begin rnd with 2 dc, then 3 dc ch 2 3 dc in the ch 2 space, then 2 dc in the next 2 st. Skip 2 st, and repeat 4 more times. slst into first dc of rnd.
RND 4: Skip first st of rnd by slst into next stitch, and begin rnd with 4 dc, then 3 dc ch 2 3 dc in the ch 2 space, then 4 dc in the next 4 st. Skip 2 st, and repeat 4 more times. slst into first dc of rnd. Ch 1 to fasten off. Optional: Leave long tail for sewing.
Optional but not required: Make an additional star to make sponge more durable. Sew stars together with long tail using single crochets in every stitch of the star. In each of the ch2 spaces, insert 2 sc.
